Abstract

This quantitative study explored the perspectives of third-year students majoring in English Education (BEE), Filipino Education (BFE), and Social Science Education (BSSE) regarding online Bahasa Indonesia language learning. Utilizing a researcher-designed survey questionnaire with four key indicators—pedagogical e-learning, learning style and culture, technology and technical training, and learning flexibility—the data, assessed on a five-point Likert scale, underwent Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Fifty-three (53) third-year students in Foreign Language 1 and Foreign Language 2, chosen through purposive random sampling, constituted the study's respondents. Findings indicate diverse perceptions across programs, with common challenges such as poor internet connectivity, sentence construction difficulties, motivation issues, and instructional delivery problems. Students employ coping strategies, including improving internet access, self-study, and maintaining a positive mindset. Recommendations include diversifying language offerings, organizing course orientations, utilizing bandwidth friendly online platforms, and scheduling synchronous classes thoughtfully. Addressing these challenges enhances the efficacy of online foreign language education.
