Abstract

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) need to systematically highlight the relevance of institutional programs by showing how graduates met the much needed manpower for regional and national development. This descriptive study aimed to describe the employability of the Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education graduates of Philippine Normal University Mindanao for the years 2016 and 2017 by looking into their employment characteristics, their satisfaction of the university services, learning climate, and facilities, and the adequacy of skills they learned in their undergraduate. A survey questionnaire served as instrument to gather data from 366 respondents who were identified through convenience sampling. Data gathered were interpreted through frequencies, percentages, and means. Majority of graduates are employed as teachers, working fulltime, and hired in less than a month because of their specialization and the University reputation. Graduates have very high satisfaction on the services and the learning environment of the University and high satisfaction on its facilities. The University is perceived by its graduates to have provided them with extremely adequate training that developed their communication skills, human relation skills, leadership skills, problem-solving skills, and research skills. It is recommended that the administration look into improving more its facilities and providing programs that will equip additional skills needed in the workplace.
